FATAL CRASH INVESTIGATION

On August 14, 2020 at approximately 3:13 PM Darke County Deputies along with Tri-Village Rescue and New Madison Fire Department were dispatched to 1549 Rush Road in reference to an injury accident.



Preliminary investigation revealed a red 2006 Dodge Dakota driven by Homer D. Howard, 65 of Richmond, Indiana was traveling westbound on Rush Road. Mr. Howard traveled off the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole and continued through a cornfield.  Mr. Howard's vehicle continued back across the roadway and off the left side coming to a rest in the yard of 1549 Rush Road. Mr. Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.



The Darke County Coroner’s investigator was called to the scene for further investigation. This death investigation is believed to be a medical event.



This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office and the Darke County Coroner’s Office.
