Update: The 84-year-old deceased male was identified as Kenneth J. H. Dirksen.

On December 3, 2024 at approximately 1:43 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with Osgood Fire and Rescue responded to 8584 Day Road for a reported explosion with a person trapped.


Preliminary investigation revealed that there was not an explosion, but a small fire was discovered inside a shop area of the family owned farm, and an 84-year-old male was found deceased.


This incident is under investigation with the assistance from the Darke County Coroner's Office and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
