CRASH INVESTIGATION

On February 27, 2020 at approximately 12:23 P.M. Darke County Deputies along with Ansonia Rescue, Ansonia Fire, Rossburg Fire, and Careflight were dispatched to the 10,800 block of State Route 49 in reference to a two vehicle accident with injury.


Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2011 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Alexis Crawford , 23, of Union City was traveling Northwest on State Route 49. Ms. Crawford failed to maintain control of her vehicle on the snow covered roadway. Ms. Crawford traveled off the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole and a tree before coming to rest. Shortly after Ms. Crawford's vehicle came to rest a 2016 BMW X-5 driven by Jennifer Woodruff , 43, of New Weston was traveling Northwest on State Route 49 in the 10,800 block. Ms. Woodruff failed to maintain control of her vehicle on snow covered roadways. Ms. Woodruff's vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway striking a utility and Ms. Crawford's vehicle before coming to rest. Ms. Crawford was still seated in her vehicle when she was struck by Ms. Woodruff's vehicle. Ms. Crawford was treated by Ansonia Recuse at the scene and transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight. Ms. Woodruff and a juvenile passenger were transported to Wayne ER by Ansoina Rescue with minor injuries.


This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
