On March 1, 2022 at approximately 6:48 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with New Madison Fire, Tri-Village Rescue, Greenville Township Rescue and MedFlight responded to the intersection of US Route 36 and State Route 121 for a two vehicle injury crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2000 Ford Taurus driven by Mason Schwass 18, of Brookville IN. was traveling westbound on US Route 36 and came to a stop at the intersection of State Route 121. This vehicle then pulled out into the intersection failing to yield the right-of-way, and was struck by a northbound gray 2010 Honda Accord driven by Jordan Thomas 24, of Greenville, OH. The driver of the Ford Taurus was extricated by mechanical means and was transported by MedFlight to Kettering Health for suspected serious injuries, while his front seat passenger Abbigail Kelley 19, of Bakersville, IN. was transported to Wayne HealthCare. The driver of the Honda Accord was also transported to Wayne HealthCare while his three year old daughter was uninjured.
