SRT : Mounted Patrol : K-9

    Special Response Team (SRT)

The Darke County Sheriff's Office has a Special Response Team  whose members are Deputies with some 'extra' training. The team employs rifles, shotguns, pistols, automatic weapons, and several other special weapons. The team also has a specialized vehicle for its use.

This unit can be used for a number of situations. Some examples would be hostage situations, barricaded persons, raids, and other situations that require a specialized team.

The team is under the command of the Road Patrol Captain.

Mounted Patrol

The Darke County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol was started in 1992. The Mounted Patrol works at Special Functions for crowd control. Some of the functions the Mounted Patrol works are The Great Darke County Fair, The Maria Stein Country Fest and The Celina Lake Festival.The Mounted Patrol also participate in numerous parades in the area including Annie Oakley Days, Arcanum Old Fashion Days and the Dayton Air Show. The Mounted Patrol is also involved with youth church groups.The Darke County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol is a volunteer organization. The members own all horses, tack and equipment.
