  The Facility and staff

The Darke County Correctional Facility is a 36 bed non smoking county owned jail located just outside Greenville, Ohio. The facility was built in 1983 and is in it's 20th year of operation. Programs that are offered at this facility include work release, inmate worker, and community service. Our average daily population for the year 2002 was 35 inmates.

The current staffing for the facility is:

4 Corporals, 7 Deputies/ Corrections officers, 3 Male corrections Officers, 8 Female Corrections Officers, 3 Cooks, and 1 Administrative Assistant.

  Visiting Hours

Inmates are encouraged to have visitation with family and friends. Listed here are some of the specifics for visitation. Please call the above number before visitation if you have questions.

Sunday- 1 PM to 4 PM     

   Wednesday 1 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM

  • Inmates receive two 15 min. visits per week. 

  • Only 2 visitors in a booth at a time.

  • Visitors must be on an approved visitor list (visitation sheet) that the inmate fills out. 

  • A maximum of 4 names will be allowed on a visitation sheet. Inmates may change names on Fridays only.

  • Visitors must wear proper attire to be permitted a visit. 

  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian unless he/she is legal spouse.

  • Visitors must also not be under the influence of drugs and/ or alcohol.

  •  Photo ID is required for visitors 16 years old and older.

Any person may be searched entering the facility in accordance of the Ohio Revised Code.

Commissary Funds

Money can be given to inmates for commissary by persons who are on the inmates visitation sheet only.

Property

No property may be given to inmate with the exception of clothing for inmates on work release, religious materials (soft cover), and approved medications.

Mail

Mail to inmates should have the inmate's name and the address above on the envelope. Mail to inmates will be opened by Staff and checked for contraband.

Phone

Inmates have phones available for their use from 9 Am to 11 PM , 7 days a week. The phone calls are collect calls. A flat fee is charged by the phone company for each call. Inmates may not use the office phones, nor will messages be given to inmates.
