The Communications / 911 Center handles emergency
calls and dispatches for the county, except for the City of
Greenville [(937)548-1103]. The Center operates 24 hours a day /
365 days a year.
The

Center
serves a population of approximately 53,300 people.
Geographically, we are the third largest county in
Ohio
with 606 square miles and 1,292 miles of roadways.
We are the primary communications center for the Darke
County Sheriff’s Office, five village police departments, nine
EMS
services, and seventeen fire departments.
Our dispatch center also provides communications for the
game warden from the Department of Natural Resources, Animal
Control Officer, Darke County Coroner, Shelter From Violence,
Crime Stoppers, and Safe School Hotline.
In
2008, the Darke County 9-1-1 Communications Center answered 53,912 calls for service. Of
those 53,912 calls for service, 5,398 were
EMS
dispatches and 1,581 were Fire dispatches.

Center
is staffed with one full-time administrator, nine full-time
dispatchers, and three part-time dispatchers.

The
Darke County Sheriff's Office has partnered with the Darke County
Emergency Management Office to provide our citizens with an
Emergency Notification System. The system enables automatic
emergency messaging.
